Driver arrested on suspicion of murder in motorcyclist's death

A driver who allegedly killed a motorcyclist in a Reseda collision has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Roberto Casillas, 56, was arrested after the crash Monday that killed 25-year-old Steve Josue Campos, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.

Casillas was driving a pickup truck east on Vanowen Street towards Etiwanda Avenue about 3:20 p.m. while Campos was heading west on Vanowen.

Casillas failed to yield the right of way to Campos at the green light and made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, police said. They collided, and Campos suffered major injuries.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Casillas was arrested after being treated for minor injuries. He was booked into Van Nuys jail and was being held on $1-million bail.
