Driver gets 18 years in Long Beach drag racing accident that killed 4
A Long Beach teenager was sentenced to almost 18 years in prison Wednesday in connection with a drag racing accident in Long Beach that killed four people, prosecutors said.
Denis Alberto Reyes, 17 at the time of the August collision, was driving a stolen car down Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach when he collided with the driver of a Mustang he was racing.
The collision ejected and killed two passengers and the driver. A third passenger who was taken to the hospital later died.
Reyes fled the scene but was later arrested. He pleaded no contest to four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one count of car theft, and hit-and-run causing death.
