Antelope Valley brush fire knocked down

Firefighters quickly knocked down a five-acre brush fire that broke out Saturday on state park land between Palmdale and Acton.

About 100 firefighters, including three helicopters, responded to the blaze near the Sierra and Pearblossom Highways about 11:15 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Supervisor Bernard Peters said. The fire, which included light to medium brush, was put out about 35 minutes later.

The highways remained open and no structures were threatened. Fire officials have not determined a cause.
