Alleged gang member charged in shooting deaths of boy, 2, and his uncle in South L.A.
An alleged gang member was charged with two counts of murder Thursday in the shooting deaths of a 2-year-old boy and his uncle, who were struck outside the family home in South Los Angeles.
Joshua Montes was with his uncle, Josefat Canchola, when the gunfire broke out last month in the 1200 block of East 55th Street, police said. Both were struck in the head and died after they were taken to a hospital.
The bullets, police said, had been intended for rival gang members.
Davion McClelland, 18, was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder involving the intended targets, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.
He was being held without bail
