3.6 earthquake reported near Palm Springs

A 3.6 earthquake was reported about 15 miles from Palm Springs early Tuesday morning, though there were no reports of damage.

The temblor occurred about 15 miles southwest of Palm Springs and 9 miles east of Hemet. It struck at 1:25 a.m.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the temblor was felt in a large swath of Riverside and San Diego counties, with more than 100 people in the Palm Springs-Palm Desert area reporting they felt the quake.
