Three males were on the grassy field at Penmar Park in the 1300 block of East Lake Street shortly after 4 p.m. when multiple attackers walked up and at least one of them fired several rounds, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The shooting, police said, appears to be gang-related.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the park. The other two were taken to a hospital, where the second victim died a short while later, according to police.

At least 15 homicides have been reported in Venice since January 2007, according to a Times Homicide Report database.
