Weekend of high wind, surf, rain sets some records in Southern California

It was barely a sprinkle, but several Southern California cities reported record rainfall totals for Sunday, according the National Weather Service.

Among the record-setters for the day was Long Beach, which recorded .04 inches of rain. Also on the list were Lancaster, Paso Robles and Santa Maria.

A high-surf advisory was in effect Monday morning for local beaches, with waves as high as 6 feet predicted. On Sunday, some canyon and mountain areas were hit with wind gusts that topped 60 mph.

Temperatures will be mild on Memorial Day, with highs in the 70s, the weather service said.
