Sister of slain MTV music coordinator appeals for public's help in solving the case
The sister of an MTV music coordinator slain in an execution-style attack appealed Monday night for the public to come forward with information that might help detectives in the case.
Gabriel Aron Ben-Meir, 30, was shot in the back of the head as he walked to his Mid-Wilshire home early Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Investigators Monday evening had not determined a motive or identified suspects.
“We are all in terrible shock and would appreciate anyone with any information regarding his final hours to come forward,” his sister, Alexis Ben-Meir, said in an email to The Times.
A Los Angeles native, Ben-Meir came from an entertainment-industry family. His father, Nick Ben-Meir, is an entertainment accountant. His sister manages musicians.
Aron Ben-Meir attended the Seeds laboratory school at UCLA and the Windward School in West Los Angeles for junior and senior high school. He then went on to Kenyon College in Ohio, where he played tennis and graduated with a degree in music and physics, according to his sister.
At MTV, he worked as a talent and music coordinator and planned to continue on that career path.
“He loved his job and was more passionate about music than anyone I have ever met,” Alexis Ben-Meir said.
“He was not only my brother but my best friend,” she added. “He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers."
Anyone with information is asked to call (877) LAPD-24-7.
