Mother of beaten Giants fan Bryan Stow thanks L.A. for support; Stow is set to be moved to San Francisco

A San Francisco Giants fan severely beaten after the Dodgers' home opener in March is scheduled to be moved from County USC Medical Center to a hospital in San Francisco on Monday. But his family said he still faced a long road to recovery.

The family of Bryan Stow, a Santa Clara, Calif.-area paramedic who suffered brain damage in the attack, said on their blog that Stow was well enough to be moved but still faced challenges.

"Bryan has been responsive to stimulation, and while he doesn't do it on command, his eyes have been opening," they wrote. "We had not been getting eye movement, except within the past few days, with them opening today. Again, not sure if its involuntary, but it's another "we'll take it" moment."

Stow will be treated at San Francisco General Hospital. 

At a press conference Sunday, Stow's mother thanked those who had helped the family during the last month.

"This truly is the city of angels,'' a tearful Ann Stow said, according to City News Service. "On behalf of our family, we would like to say thank you to the community that has embraced Brian and supported him.''

The first suspect in the March beating is described as a stocky male Latino, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds. He has a shaved head, mustache and goatee and possibly tattoos on his neck. He also has a mole on the left side of his face. The second suspect is described as a Latino or white male. He is about 6-foot-1, with short hair and hazel eyes. He may have tattoos on his shoulder.

A third suspect, a female, who allegedly drove the men away from the scene in a car carrying a boy about 10 years old, also is sought.

Det. Pjai Morris said as many as 100 people witnessed the attack and that officials were asking anyone with information to come forward by calling the Los Angeles Police Department at (877)  527-3247.
