Boy, 5, dies after being struck by vehicle in Walnut Park

A 5-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday evening in Walnut Park, the California Highway Patrol said.

The boy, whose name was not released, was struck at 5:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of Poplar Place and died at the scene, said CHP Officer Krystal Carter.

The circumstances of the incident are under investigation, she said.
