Body found at Wilmington trash-sorting station

The body of a woman was found Friday among recyclables delivered to a trash-sorting station in Wilmington, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said Saturday.

The woman was described as black and in her 20s. Detectives were not releasing her identity pending notification of next of kin.

The body was delivered to the facility in the 900 block of East E Street. The station takes in and sorts trash for recycling from many parts of Southern California.

The Los Angeles county coroner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
