Bin Laden death: 'It's fabulous,' says father of U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan
Del Warren of Long Beach, whose 28-year-old son Kyle was killed by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan, said he started tearing up when his son's widow text-messaged him with the news of Osama bin Laden's death.
"It's fabulous,'' Warren said Sunday night, glued to the television set.
"That's the reason my son was over there. This is just huge.'' His son, a 28-year-old staff sergeant and Special Forces medic, was killed on July 29.
Warren and other members of his Special Forces unit had just finished meeting with town elders when they were attacked by small-arms fire. He was on an all-terrain-vehicle during the firefight when he was hit by the explosive, his father said.
