Armed man barricaded inside Lakewood home

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were at a home in Lakewood where an armed man was holed up Tuesday night.

Deputies, along with SWAT team members, were outside the home in the 5900 block of Bellflower Boulevard, said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

"He is an armed suspect," Whitmore told The Times.

The incident began about 7:15 p.m and deputies received a call about 40 minutes later. Part of Bellflower Boulevard had been cordoned off.

No other details were immediately available.
