Alleged drunk driver crashes into Compton house

A man who allegedly drove into an occupied house in Compton was arrested with the help of neighborhood residents who chased after him when he fled the scene, authorities said Wednesday.

The driver was drunk when he lost control of his vehicle about 10:25 p.m. Tuesday and crashed into two parked cars and then into a home in the 13000 block of Aranbe Avenue, said Sgt. Joe Riordan of the California Highway Patrol.

The man and his passenger ran from the scene but were followed by residents and then taken into custody by responding officers, Riordan said.

The driver, whose name was not immediately available, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run.

No one was hurt in the crash.
