Two people killed in separate officer-involved shootings in southeast L.A. County

Sheriff's homicide detectives Wednesday night were investigating two deadly officer-involved shootings in southeast Los Angeles County.

The first shooting occurred shortly after 7 p.m. in the 9800 block of San Miguel Avenue in South Gate, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. A man was pronounced dead at the scene after he was shot by South Gate police.

In Willowbrook, a man was shot by at least one sheriff's deputy around 8:30 p.m. in the 11700 block of South Central Avenue. The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital, the department said. A suspect was taken into custody.

There were no additional details on the circumstances of the shootings.
