15-year-old Harbor City shooting victim identified

Ery Valdez was shot about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 25400 block of Senator Avenue, Los Angeles police said. He died at the scene.

The victim was initially described as a 25-year-old male.

The shooting remains under investigation. But police preliminary findings indicate the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified suspect, police said.

The suspect fired several shots at the victim, striking him in the upper torso and legs, before fleeing the scene, according to authorities.

No further information was immediately available.
