Woman's body found on 210 Freeway; suspect in hospital with self-inflicted gunshot wound

A man who allegedly pushed the body of a dead woman out of a car on the westbound 210 Freeway in La Crescenta is in the hospital after apparently suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said Friday.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies have taken over the investigation of the apparent homicide, which motorists reported shortly before 5:45 p.m., although Glendale police were the first on the scene.

The man, who was driving a black Honda, was stopped by Glendale police on the southbound Glendale Freeway near the Mountain Avenue off-ramp. He was taken to a nearby hospital after police discovered that he was suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police sources who were familiar with the investigation but not authorized to discuss it.

The Glendale freeway near Mountain Avenue is the 2 Freeway, not the 210 Freeway.
