April 16, 2011 |  2:45 pm

A teenager was taken into custody Saturday morning for allegedly shooting a 15-year-old boy who was walking to school, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting occurred about 8 a.m. Friday near 12th Street at Rimpau Boulevard, about a block south of Los Angeles High School, said Officer Norma Eisenman. The victim, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was walking to school when he was confronted by the shooter, Eisenman said.

Both the suspect and victim knew each other, she said. During an argument, the suspect shot at the boy, grazing him in the buttocks, Eisenman said. The suspect fled in a vehicle.

Investigators later arrested the suspect, whose name also was withheld because he also is a minor. He was taken into custody at his home Saturday morning, Eisenman said. Police also recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the shooting.

The motive for the shooting has not been determined, police said. The age of the suspect was not released.
