Six hurt in crash on the 118 Freeway in Pacoima

Six people were injured, three critically, when two vehicles collided on the 118 Freeway near the 5 Freeway in Pacoima on Sunday.

Two lanes of the eastbound 118 remained closed as the California Highway Patrol investigated the crash and clean-up crews removed debris, said CHP Officer Monica Posada.

The accident occurred about 1:36 p.m. and at least one of the vehicles, a pickup truck, overturned, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. The truck’s occupants, a 4-year-old boy and 1-year-old girl and a 26-year-old woman, believed to be their mother, were taken to Northridge Hospital  Medical Center in serious to critical condition, Humphrey said.

Three people in a compact car, a man, a woman and a teenage boy, all believed to be related, were taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries, Humphrey said.

I witnessed this accident. It was at the split of the 118 & the 5 on Sunday 4/10/2011.at about 1:30.
There was a small green car(sentra?) just sitting in the slow lane of the one 118 right after the road splits and I thought "Good god"What kind of idiot is that??"
3 people in the can and they can't push it 5 feet to the right to get it out of the lane??"
I was starting the ramp curve and I happened to look into my left side driver's mirror and I saw a red pick up truck coming down in the air upside down and other cars going into the mess.....I lost sight of what was happening as the curve I was driving on progressed but I thought,Someone must surely have died in that.
If you read the story above it was a Mother,An infant and a 4 year old in the red pick up.........Just aweful!!
