Newport Beach imposes spring break youth curfew to prevent nighttime crimes

April 7, 2011 |  8:50 am

Newport Beach police on Wednesday announced that officers will enforce a nighttime curfew against juveniles during the spring break for local schools later this month.

The enforcement of a Newport Beach curfew ordinance is in response to an increase in nighttime thefts committed by juveniles, according to a news release.

Starting Friday, police will be enforcing a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew against people younger than 18 suspected of loitering in public streets, alleys and other public places, officials said.
