Man shot to death in Angeles National Forest

Homicide investigators were responding Thursday night to a campground in Angeles National Forest, where a man was shot to death.

The killing at the Chantry Flats Campground north of Arcadia occurred shortly before 6 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. No additional details were available.

Definitely interested in knowing more about this as details emerge. Also, it's Chantry Flat, not Flats, and there is no actual campground at Chantry. There are two campgrounds within hiking distance from there, several miles each, and many people use Chantry as the starting point for such outings. But no camping at Chantry itself. Definitely worth knowing whether the shooting occurred at Chantry, which is a very busy area, especially on the weekends, or at one of the more remote Campgrounds.
