LAPD officer suspected of drunk driving on motorcycle in wrong-way incident in Sepulveda Tunnel near LAX
A veteran Los Angeles police officer was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving early Saturday after he allegedly drove his motorcycle the wrong way through the Sepulveda Tunnel near Los Angeles International Airport, multiple law enforcement sources familiar with the case said.
The officer, who was not immediately identified but works in Hollywood Division, was booked at the LAPD's Pacific Division on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the sources, who asked not to be named, citing an ongoing investigation. Los Angeles Airport Police handled the arrest.
It was not clear who first reported the officer allegedly driving the wrong way in the tunnel or whether there were other motorists around at the time of the incident.
Neither the officer nor motorists were reported hurt. The officer's blood-alcohol level also was not immediately available.
