Drivers line up at Dodger Stadium to drop off money for beating victim Bryan Stow

Stow
Drivers headed into Dodger Stadium on Monday to drop off cash and checks for a relief fund for paramedic Bryan Stow, the Giants fan who was severely beaten on opening day.

Volunteers from Stow's employer, American Medical Response, and the Dodgers were providing car-side collection service to a steady stream of vehicles at the stadium, Dodger spokesman Josh Rawitch said.

Stow, 42, a Santa Clara paramedic, remained in critical condition Monday in a medically induced coma at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

He is undergoing further testing, but no improvement has been reported since his admission, a hospital spokesperson said.

Stow, wearing Giants apparel, was in the stadium parking lot after the March 31 game when two young men began taunting him. According to police, one of the men blindsided him with blows to the back and head.

Both men repeatedly kicked and punched Stow on the ground before fleeing in a car driven by a woman. Police said it appeared a 10-year-old boy was also in the car.

The money collected Monday will go to a trust fund established by Stow’s mother at the San Francisco Police Credit Union, and will benefit him and his two children.

Giants and Dodgers players also planned Monday night to take part in a pre-game ceremony when the teams face off again at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The ceremony will honor Stow and “encourage civility in the rivalry,” Rawitch said.

At Dodger Stadium, motorists were being directed to the main entrance off Elysian Park Drive to parking Lot 1, Rawitch said.

Leaders, including former Dodgers Manager Tommy Lasorda, City Councilman Tom LaBonge and Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich were set to speak at noon.

The drive was scheduled to end at 3 p.m. Checks should be made out to the “Bryan Stow Fund.”

Pictures, or it didn't happen.

So still no apprehension of the people who did this and the woman who had the child in the car as well? It's nice that we have a drive for the Guy who got beaten by the TWO Los Angeles Dodger Douche-Bag Fans, we had resources for getting Damian " Football" Williams after the Reginald Denny beating by our former Chief of Police Daryl Gates and we can't get these people, it's embarrassing and a shame..We have a commercial on why to come visit California and Los Angeles but I think we forgot to mention if your a fan of another Baseball team don't bother coming here or you will get severely beaten, how's that for a punchline?

Nice to see that people have a heart.

No matter what the dodgers do, they make theultimate mistake of waiting to fix their problem. They allowed money to come beofre public safety. The news conference sickens me.

The dodgers stadium is nothimg more than an extension of county jail. Good luck, I have not been and will never bring my kids there. Their are many racist fans there. And now they want a football tema, yah right, nobody going to go except the dodger fan type.

I see NO REASON for private citizens to make donations in a situation where the Dodgers should and will cover all the medical costs incurred by this poor man, plus damages.

The Dodgers should be ashamed of themselves for participating in this donation drive because they are ultimately responsible for what went down and should not be taking money from anyone!!

Laker and Dodger Fans, for the most part, are a bunch of gang-bangin', abusive thugs.

Good on them. Glad to see something positive out of this situation. Bummer that two thugs have to ruin the otherwise competitive sportsman like atmosphere at the ball park. Keep the insults verbal and we will all be the better for it.

IF THESE SPINELESS IDIOTS ARE SO "HARD" OR CLAIM TO BE DOWN FOR "L.A." WHY DONT THEY TURN THEMSELVES IN?? HOW EMBERRASING FOR THEM TO BE WEARING ANYTHING THAT SAYS L.A. ON IT!!

why aren't the dodgers paying his bills? It was their lack of security after the game and tolerating bad behaviour as long as the beer sales keep flowing that made this type of thing possible.

it'll only be a matter of time before word gets out as to who the idiots are that committed this senseless act. all it takes is a party somewhere in the area when they'll brag about their accomplishment - they like to brag about such things... can't really blame, for they have nothing else better to talk about.

no education (not just academia - no home education as well), no decent job, no intelligence.

To ALL,

Stop sniveling already...it has ALWAYS been like that at ALL sporting events where ALCOHOL is served...
STOP selling Alcohol and see just how LOYAL the so called fans really are...
and what about the fans that are driving home DRUNK after the games...is what they're doing OK?

You gotta love the true Dodgers fan and some of the compassionate people that still live in L.A..And come to the financial aide of a young man (whom they don't even know) who was brutally beaten for no other reason than wearing an opposing teams jersey. It warms the heart to know that there are still people that exist (here in L.A.) that don't give a damn where your from, they only know when you've been wronged and just want to help GOD BLESS YOU...... As for McCourt , why are the people of L.A. flipping the bill for something YOU should be responsible for ?

This is a great gesture by the City of LA, The Dodgers, and people in general.

Can't the family sue the Dodgers organization for a pile of cash given its well known irresponsibility for safety in and around the stadium? Who is surprised at what happened to Stow?

Finally someone in LA shows some type of class. It should be the Dodgers ownership that ponies up the money for this poor fan and his children! Have to agree with an earlier post I read saying that Dodger stadium is just an extension of the local penitentiary!

Bring back Daryl Gates and clean up LA.

I hope somebody gets these thugs. Give them life.

These Two Idiots That Did This To This Guy Should Get Prosecuted, But They Are Probably Homies with LA tatooed on their head or arms. Yea, Why Doesn't Dodger Stadium Pay For The Hospital Bill & why are these idiots making donations. In California There Is A Thing Called Insurance & That Should Cover
The Cost Of This Guys Hospital Bill. STOP DONATION IDIOTS

This is a good reason to stop selling beer, don't you think.

A women drove them away with a child in the car. What does that tell you about the driver. NO RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE, and this is passed down to a child. Truely sad, and the cycle continues. The thugs will get caught, she should also do time for driving away with these clowns. You can't even go enjoy a ball game anymore without worring that something will happen to you or your family. My prayers are with the Stow family.

Wait wait wait, what does alcohol have anything to do with this? Anything in the facts state the the thugs were drinking. From the looks of it these guys don't even look old-enough to drink, or barely is. Getting beat down OUTSIDE a stadium and we are talking about beer. I want to know where everyone else was when this was going down. No one got plates, no one helped or yelled stop police.
