Costa Mesa mayor's bar vandalized; he cites City Hall layoffs as motive
Someone threw a brick with a note attached through the window of Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan's business, Skosh Monahan's bar, early Saturday in what he said was an escalation in the protests against cutbacks at Costa Mesa City Hall.
"This wasn't directed at the bar, it was directed at the mayor, at my place of business for actions that I'm doing as mayor," Monahan said Saturday. "That's kind of scary."
At about 3:30 a.m., a Skosh Monahan's employee called police after someone launched a brick through their front-door window with a note taped to it.
Neither Monahan nor police would detail what the note said, but officials said it was critical of Monahan personally and referenced the citywide layoff notices distributed last month. Monahan said the note was a threat against him but would not elaborate.

It is very sad that Costa Mesa is going through this, the broken window is not the story. I thank you Mr. Joseph Serna for including the memorial picture. People are loosing everything. I mean you hear of people jumping of buildings in China I-pad producing housing units, to the extent that they installed safety nets to prevent jumper's from dying. That is overwork related, 2 dollars an hour on top of it. Loosing your job all together is loosing bread and butter, desperation result in desperate actions. Let's help the people loosing their jobs, this is the only solution to counter the Costa Mesa layoff moves.

Civil service union thug mentality on full display.
And we are supposed to show gratitude to government workers with generous pay and pensions?
Give me a break!
A kick to the curb is what they deserve.

Someone through a brick? Really? They through a brick?
It's the first sentence in a news story, you think you could use the right word. Geesh.
