USC fraternity official 'appalled' by photos of couple having sex on rooftop [Updated]
A top official at the board for fraternities at USC expressed outrage over photos posted online that apparently showed two people having sex on the roof of the school's Waite Phillips Hall.
The photos of the man and woman went viral after they were posted Saturday night, according to a report in the Daily Trojan, which broke the story.
On Monday night, the paper quoted USC Interfraternity Council President Pat Lauer as saying the group was “appalled by the actions associated with the individuals in the pictures, and will work tirelessly to reverse the negative stereotypes such an action has perpetuated.”
The Daily Trojan quoted a statement released by the president of USC Kappa Sigma acknowledging that the man in the photos was a fraternity member.
"While the actions that were taken did involve a member of our chapter we, in no way, support this kind of behavior, nor do we promote any such actions," Zach Timm was quoted as saying.
Timm said inquiries into the incident had been launched and that the fraternity member seen in the photos had been suspended "for conduct unbecoming of a Kappa Sigma and a gentleman."

Wow! I'm surprised! As an employee of a college library, I have found that most college students have sex in the library!

The Greek system exist mainly for guys to meet girls (and vice versa) and get drunk. This is especially useful at a commuter school located in South Central like USC is. They hide behind this "community service" logo etc etc. We all know the real story. The University p/r machine is in full swing spinning this one.

@Nice - That's funny, because the girl was a UCLA delta gamma. who knew?

Just goes to show that a tuition of $20,000 a year can't buy you CLASS.

This article is just too funny! I was thinking the same thing about the Trojan newspaper breaking the news! College students have sex all over the place. And this surprises anyone?

Only a complete moron or prude would think this has anything to do with "class". Have you never done it in your backyard? If not, give it a try.
College students don't have a backyard yet. This is their home for four years. Cut them some slack.
If you're crying about this, you really need to get a life.

what's funny is we all had make out sessions up on the parapet of Waite Phillips (the "roof" is a misnomer, as it's just a two-story-wall hiding the A/C and elevator equipment with a 3' edge on top), though in 1986, the sessions were generally just between frat boys.

Like about a million other people, I'm "appalled" that is is news. Along with everyone else: Wow. College kids having sex. Well we should spend whatever is neccessary to stop this shameful practice! You know what they say: College sex leads to terrorism. Or whatever.

I attended USC from 1999-2002, my younger brother works there as well as my mother. We have seen people having sex on campus and inside the classrooms. I have personally seen sorrority girls running naked on and near campus. I saw a sorrority girl having sex with several guys at a frat party. Although I loved my USC experience, the school does nothing but try to cover up this sort of thing and does a really good job. This time, it just got out. Deal with it, this happens every day. So USC needs to quit with the "I'm so appalled" crap!
Oh and to all you Bruin commentators, my girlfriend attended UCLA and guess what, your sorrorities are no different!

You gotta laugh when "kids" are so foolish to put this stuff on the internet for people to see.
Don't they understand that what goes on at Kappa Sigma, stays at Kappa Sigma??

I did this in college (at UCLA so I won't go bashing USC since students are the same everywhere). Big deal. The only difference is that it was caught on video.
I was in a fraternity too. And now I have a great career and a respectable life. It is just sex among consenting young adults...meaning they're old enough to have consenual sex but still not old enough to be intelligent about it.

Yeah, they are appalled that its a heterosexual couple, not the politically correct version.

Isn't the most appalling behavior taking the photos and posting them on the internet?
Posted by: viva | March 29, 2011 at 01:26 PM
Relax- it's just 2 people having sex, big deal.

USC Interfraternity Council President Pat Lauer as saying the group was “appalled by the actions ....
Was Mr. Lauer the police officer in the movie Casablanca when the police found out there was gambling going on at Ricks??

Nice to see those USC kids spending mom and dad's cash quite well!

"Suspended 'for conduct unbecoming of a Kappa Sigma and a gentleman.'" Really? How did this act hurt anyone to justify suspension. If that is the worse that is happened on campus nowadays, the University is doing great.

Ok, university and greek organization heads, you can drop the dated language of gentlemanly conduct and chaste, studious university life. I think most people know better than to believe imbibery and licenciousness are shocking rarities in college. Is this just about keeping up appearances whether anyone actually buys it, or is it for the sake of the donors, who you imagine are THAT out of touch?

University of Southern California?
No, I beg your pardon. This refuge of academia has become the University of Spoiled Children (USC).
This is utterly disgusting and the two of them should be expelled immediately for bringing shame upon this noble institution.

'This didn't happen at UCLA when I was in college. Oh wait, we were to busy studying or had the decency to do it in our dorm room. Way to stay classy trojans! GO BRUINS"
It's unfortunate that your "classy" UCLA education didn't teach you the very fundamental basics of the written English language. You were TOO (not to) busy studying. You didn't study quite enough.

They probably had to go to the roof since the streets of USC are pretty bad, and where do I see the pics anyway?

Classic post Al LeFeusch. "Unbecoming of a gentleman" had me cracking up too. I don't know if a single thing that goes on inside a frat house would qualify under this phrase.

Let these entitled rich kids do as they please they don't have a worry in the world. After all its not their parents who are foreclosing on their mortgage, their children suffering from radiation poisoning, there brother/sisters being blown up by IED's. Life is fine and dandy if your from the upper echelon!

I went to USC, was in a frat, and we filmed multiple pornographic videos while I was there. The director showed up with the talent, gave us $500, a few kegs, and we partied all day. Some of the best memories of my life.
