Swastika drawn on sidewalk in front of Wilshire Boulevard Temple

March 3, 2011 |  5:34 pm

Los Angeles police detectives are investigating a suspected hate crime at a landmark Jewish temple in the Mid-Wilshire area.

At about 5 p.m. on Thursday, police officers responded to the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in the 3600 block of Wilshire Boulevard after a woman in her late 50s was seen drawing a swastika on the sidewalk in front of the synagogue.

Authorities said they don't believe the temple itself was vandalized but consider it a possible hate crime against the institution.

The woman was being questioned but has not been arrested.
