Tickle me green: On St. Patrick's Day, the Southern California Moments project would like to highlight a film photography technique called cross-processing, which, depending on the type of film used, can cause photos to come out with a slightly greenish cast. Read more about the process on The Times' photography blog Framework.

Photographer John Teer used the technique in this shot of Elmo, of "Sesame Street" fame, at the Santa Monica pier Feb. 22.

Every day of 2011, we're featuring reader-submitted photos of Southern California Moments. Follow us on Twitter and visit the Southern California Moments homepage for more on this series.
