One person killed and four others injured in attack in San Bernardino

The person killed and three of the surviving victims were juveniles, although their ages were not available, said Cindy Bachman, a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman. The adult female who was attacked is in "very serious condition," she said.

Bachman said she could not confirm earlier reports that all five were stabbed.

“A neighbor about 9:15 a.m. this morning called 911, saying that a male subject at a nearby residence was screaming for help," Bachman said. “They suffered multiple injuries. The exact cause of the injuries is uncertain at this time."

When police arrived at the house on the 6600 block of Merito Avenue, they detained a man who was leaving the residence. Deputies then entered the home and found the five victims, Bachman said.

The identity of the man taken into custody was not released. All of the injured have been taken to hospitals.
