Michael Lohan charged with misdemeanor domestic violence
The father of actress Lindsay Lohan was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor domestic violence for an alleged assault on his live-in girlfriend.
Michael Lohan, 50, was charged with corporal injury to a cohabitant following his Monday arrest. He is expected to be arraigned May 23 in Beverly Hills Superior Court.
Prosecutors allege Lohan physically assaulted his live-in girlfriend Monday after the two argued. The victim, whose name was not released by police, suffered minor injuries.
Michael Lohan told Radar Online that his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Kate Majors, attacked him.
He faces a maximum sentence of one year in county jail if convicted.
Sheriff's deputies were called about 9 p.m. Monday to the 8500 block of Holloway Avenue in relation to a domestic dispute. Michael Lohan was later arrested a short distance from the West Hollywood sheriff's station when deputies saw him walking in the 8800 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.
Michael Lohan's arrest comes as Lindsay Lohan awaits a preliminary hearing on grand theft charges for allegedly stealing a necklace from a Venice jewelry store.
