LAPD responds to report of man with gun at Bonaventure Hotel downtown [Updated]

Los Angeles police descended on the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday night after a man was reported to be holed up in a room with a gun.

The incident began around 7:30 p.m. after a security guard said an armed man was believed to be barricaded inside a room, Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department said.

She said officers at the scene had not determined whether the man was armed with a gun.

Some guests were evacuated and crisis negotiators were responding. No other details were immediately available.

[Updated at 11:02 p.m.: Officers were still at the hotel, where the suspect remained inside a room.]
