Lindsay Lohan: Time to make a deal in necklace theft case?
Lindsay Lohan goes back to court Thursday, but it's unclear whether she is any closer to a plea deal in her necklace theft case.
Lohan, who faces felony charges for allegedly taking the necklace from a Venice jewelry store, has been seeking a deal that would avoid jail time. But at her last court appearance, Judge Keith Schwartz seemed to close that door.
"This case does involve jail time -- period," Schwartz said. "If you plead in front of me -- if this case resolves in front of me -- you are going to jail. Period. It may be an issue as to amount of time."
Schwartz said that if Lohan rejects the offer, the case will be set for a preliminary hearing in front of another judge. She was told she needed to decide before Thursday's hearing.
The felony grand theft charges are by far the most serious she's faced, and if convicted they could bring her significant jail time. Lohan has pleaded not guilty.
Law enforcement sources told The Times that the case against Lohan includes store surveillance video showing the actress wearing the necklace. Paparazzi photos taken days later also show the actress wearing the necklace. The case file also includes statements from people who were inside the store at the same time as Lohan, said the sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because the case was ongoing.
Store videotape showing Lohan with the necklace was sold and appeared on "Entertainment Tonight" this week. It's unclear whether the sale of the tape will become an issue in court.

If you keep giving her breaks, she will NEVER learn and continue down that road of destruction. She needs to spend time in jail at hard labor making little rocks out-of big ones. Maybe, that will get her attention. Enough is enough.

Not to defend her, as I have no idea what happen, but this store seems shady. It has generated alot of free publicity. Sells the tape, now it announces it will use the necklace and auction to charity. All done with the most publicity possible. I don't know what happened, but I would not be surprised if it is true this was out on loan.

Anybody with that kind of money goes shoplifting has to be one short of a six pack. Apparently subconsciously she wants to be punish for something she did in the past. For that she needs medical supervision help enforced by the courts.
Apparently our court system is still rather primitive in nature, and after all our judges have a reputation to maintain. Sorry lady jail time you will do!

Does anyone really believe she'll go to jail over this? How many chances does this girl get? What did she do over violating her probation over & over? A whole 13 days or something? 2 DUIs, cocaine, setting off her alcohol bracelet more than once, do you really think if it was you or I we would get 13 days? NOPE. We would get at least 2 months in jail; in the REAL world. And as someone that has been in rehab, breaking curfew & being in a club while in rehab doesn't constitute a violation? Whatever happened to that? Wasn't it, "Next time you break the law/violate probation, you WILL go to jail!" hahahahah What a joke.
Now it's grand theft. They'll probably just extend her probation, ONCE AGAIN. This celebrity "justice" really burns me!!!
This girl should go to jail. End of story!

The only way I think she should be able to avoid jail is to go to a very strict, very intense rehab that lasts a good many months (4-6, maybe even 12) with no get out easy - full time. They should have done this long ago. It may already be too late for her - and at this point over lenient judges are somewhat responsible.

This case is ridiculous. If I was on the jury I would not indict Linday Lohan. She may be guilty of stupidity but does anyone seriously think that she maliciously tried to steal a cheap $2,500 necklace which she could easily purchase? I think the malicious party in this case is the jewelry store and the clerk. They purposely let her put it on and then did not ask for it back and she forgot she had that tiny thing on. I know for a fact having worked at Tiffany that when you work in a jewelry store you let a buyer try a piece on and then you take it back if they are not buying it. So did the jewelry store purposely set Lindsay up by not asking for the piece and then recording it and selling the recording for $40,000 plus all the publicity they knew they were going to get? This time I think Lindsay Lohan is the victim.

How come if I accidentally forgot that I had a 2500 dollar necklace on, then forgot 2 return it wks. later, if at all. ,I would be walking around free. Hell, No I'd b n jail, ASP. Most average adults would b n JAIL. How much will she b allowed 2 get away with ,bfore she is PUNISHED, like everyone else n the real world.

California needs to start implementing the law for a change, she had her chances, throw her under the jail. Take Charlie Sheen with her. Only the city of Los Angeles would put up with such crap.
