Fugitive escapes L.A. police custody

Hawt A fugitive was believed to be at large Friday after escaping from Los Angeles police in Hawthorne.

Los Angeles police assisted by Hawthorne police searched the area near Rosecrans and Prairie avenues for the man Thursday after the 1 p.m. escape.

The man, who has not been identified, is wanted in connection to an attempted gang homicide.

I passed through that area yesterday. I was wondering what the heck was going on.

The gang member insists he is innocent. The real perpetrator is a one armed man.
