March 3, 2011 |  5:08 pm

A cook in the Orange County Jail has been charged with sexually assaulting two female inmates he supervised, authorities said Thursday.

James Arroyo, 54, who lives in Fullerton, is charged with touching the breasts of an inmate who worked in the jail kitchen after following her into a closet, the Orange County district attorney's office said. The alleged assault came after Arroyo repeatedly harassed the 47-year-old woman with comments about touching her breasts. James Arroyo

Arroyo is also charged with cornering a 23-year-old woman in a storage room and forcing her to kiss him, prosecutors said. Arroyo also repeatedly harassed that woman by making sexually charged comments and brushing his hands against her body, according to prosecutors.

Both incidents occurred in February. Prosecutors said Arroyo abused his position of authority as a supervisor, noting that kitchen work is coveted among female inmates.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to call investigators Anthony Sosnowski at (714) 347-8814.
