Baby stabbed to death by teenage father, who is then killed by L.A. County sheriff's deputies

Deputies in Palmdale witnessed a 17-year-old stabbing his baby boy to death inside a car Tuesday, soon after they recognized his vehicle from a reported kidnapping, an official said.

The father was shot and killed by deputies after a short pursuit.

The grisly chain of events began just before noon Tuesday when deputies got a call reporting a child abduction. Investigators learned that the 5-month-old boy had been taken from a sitter and the father had told the baby’s mother via cellphone that he would hurt the child.

Deputies spotted the father's car after an Amber Alert was issued about 3:30 p.m. As a pursuit began, they saw him “motioning as if he was stabbing the baby as he drove the car,” said sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker.

After a three-minute car chase, the suspect’s car hit a building and he escaped on foot. The deputies found the wounded baby inside the mangled car. He was taken to a hospital but did not survive, Parker said.

Other deputies caught up with the suspect as he was trying to break into a home. Deputies shot at the teenager. He was able to get inside the home but then deputies shot again.

The teen was killed, Parker said. The names of the father and the son were not released.

kids having kids. this is a tragic story.

okay...how much more violent can we get? a lot. People who dream of world peace guess what? It ain't never gonna happen.

I drop my car off at this Metrolink Station every morning and pick up every evening M-F. When I arrived tonight, this is what was waiting for me. Unbelievably sad. There couldn't be an explanation as to why this happened. Why? Why? Why?

Stories like this hit me very hard because I have a son who is 2 years old, and I don't know how this teenager would do this to his defenseless baby its such a shame that he made a bad decision that at the end also led for him to be killed by officers , now the baby is an angel.

Most horrific, tragic story I've heard in a long time. Can people even get any more depraved?

Can you imagine having to witness what this man did? The Devil himself would bury his face into his hands and scream. The paramedics and cops will need some therapy to get over this.

My heart goes out to the family. This is extremely horrifying news. May the family find peace and strength. God be with you little one.

Most Amber Alerts are issued after custody disputes or familial abductions. Violence is an unlikely possibility and is very rarely averted. This law is the biggest fallacy in crime prevention since Megan's Law.

I thought this state was broke...

poor baby, this is one time i'm glad the police have itchy fingers, no one that can do that to a baby should be allowed to continue breathing

Sad for the mother and the baby. The father however did not need to be killed. He should have been made to stand trial for his actions. Again cops are just to "kill" happy these days.

My heart goes out to the mother and the families of both the mother and the man that killed the baby. He isn't a father hence the man. I am so sorry for your loss.

oh my goodness my boyfriend lives on that block where they killed that guy so sad about the babby

Ah, but their names were released. Read KTLA.

Families ruined for life because of many selfish acts. :(

I have no words to discribe how disgusted this makes me. I am glad that the police killed him. I know that is harsh to say, but it is even worse what he did! The baby is in a better place with our creator. The sorry a#@ dad is rotting in hell where he should be!

The officers did their job by killing the father. It wasn't punishment, It was their duty. If he would have went inside that home he just invaded and killed another innocent baby we wouldn't be calling the police "kill" happy then. that officer would have been held accountable for not shooting. He reacted and did what he was supposed to do. Shame on any police officer that wouldn't have opened fire on a cold blook child killer. You don't have to be pro police to understand this. It's common sense.
