Authorities investigating death of woman found in Hacienda Heights canyon

Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a canyon in Hacienda Heights.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found Wednesday afternoon above Turnbull Canyon Road and Skyline Drive, investigator Jerry McKibben of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Sunday. She had died of a gunshot wound to the head, he said.

The death is being investigated as a homicide, said Deputy Benjamin Grubb of the Los Angeles County sheriff's headquarters bureau. He could not immediately provide any further details.
