Students safe after shooting at school in Placerville

At least one person was injured at a shooting at an elementary school in Placerville, Calif., on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The shooting victim was a school employee, and all students were safe, according to an official with the Placerville Union School District who did not want to be identified because she was not authorized to talk to the media.

Ed Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies have surrounded the home of the suspect, who fled after the shooting, according to Sacramento station FOX40. Students at Louisiana Schnell School, where the shooting occurred, were being evacuated to the El Dorado County Fairgrounds after a brief lockdown.

A press conference with updates from authorities on what happened was planned for 1:30 p.m.

Placerville is northern California, not central. It's north and east of Sacramento.
