Mother binds 2-year-old son in duct tape, texts photo

Duct_tape An Hesperia woman who thought it would be funny to bind her 2-year-old son in duct tape and text message a photo of him to an acquaintance didn’t get a laugh.

She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to a child.

Danyella Higgins, 19, told San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies she was repairing a window when she was inspired to tape up her son’s arms, legs and mouth.

The recipient of the photo called authorities.

When they arrived at Higgins' home Tuesday, her son was in a playpen but still had sticky remnants of the tape on him. He was turned over to child welfare officials.

His mother was taken to the Victor Valley Jail.

It's a sad world. We spend trillions raping Iraq, but hardly anything on protecting our own defenseless children.

Women are so stupid...

Oh God....she meant no harm, give her child back and stop being such panzies.

ATROCIOUS!!!!! She needs parenting classes as well as jail time. Sure, you can punish her but who is going to teach her that there was nothing funny about this? Who is going to explain to her why this was completely wrong AND a violation of law. Ignorance begets ignorance, she obviously didn't have the guidance in life to fill her head with the brightest reasoning. God help her to be re-directed for the safety of her children and the lessons that they will learn from her!

I am disgusted.

Meth. is not good for you!

poor judgement call for sure...but c'mon she obviously wasn't doing it to be malicious. there's far more people out there that deserve to be behind bars for what they do to their children and get away with everyday. my four year old has asked her sisters to tape her up because she thought it would be funny and the only reason that i stopped them from doing it is because i know tape can hurt when being removed...the difference between and 19 year old and me. had the police shown up and found the little guy still all bound up well then maybe that would be a different story. idk, i just dont know if this is as big a deal as they're making it. without the picture that she sent the "acquaintance" it's hard to judge.

she should be taped in the same manor with a sign hung on her neck ststing what she did and tossed into general population in prison!!!

Flood was here!

You cant even have a laugh these day without going to jail.

The nanny state wants everyone to be in the state criminal justice system so as they can control you.

Wow some of these comments are absolutely amazing...You people really think this is ok? Wow....Sad to say there are so many people having children that shouldn't be allowed to reproduce! And Im sure since the child welfare system in California is so screwed, the child will be released back into her custody.

Tape her to a telephone pole and slather her with honey. Then let the ants and bees take it from there! She won't think it's very funny, I guarantee you!

i dont see how a mother would think this was funny...

sounds just like a lot of funny stories i've heard over the years from other parents. how was this a crime? did she then lock the child in a closet with no food for a few days? society has lost its sense of humor. we raise our kids in such a protective bubble that they never devolpe the skills to survive the real world. call someone a name and it's bullying them. what happened to developing a thick skin? instead let's give everyone a gold star and compliment them on the effort they put in, who cares if actually succeed at something. where's my star for putting on my shoes? oops forgot 'bout the socks. do i get a silver star instead....
