A Lomita man who jumped off a cliff after being confronted by deputies was booked Monday on suspicion of murder in the disappearance of his wife, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
David Viens, 47, was arrested Monday at a hospital, where he was recovering from injuries after jumping off an 80-foot cliff last week, said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department.
Viens jumped off a cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes while being chased by deputies. Investigators began focusing on Viens after the disappearance of his wife, Dawn Viens.
The 39-year-old woman went missing after walking away from the Thyme Contemporary Cafe, which she owned with her husband, according to authorities.
