Bar tied to 72 drunk-driving arrests has hours curtailed by police
A bar that Huntington Beach police claim is tied to 72 drunk-driving arrests in the last two years will have its hours curtailed, according to a letter from police officials.
Baja Sharkeez will not be able to provide entertainment to its customers beyond 11 p.m. each business day. A recent review by the Police Department showed violations and police incidents related to Sharkeez during late night hours, the letter said.
"The Police Department's goals is to enhance and maintain public safety in our community," Chief Ken Small said in the letter. "We believe this modification to your entertainment permit is both justified and necessary in light of this goal."
The restaurant is under investigation by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for possible violations.
