Ted Williams, the Ohio homeless man whose golden voice made him a YouTube sensation and brought him offers of work, was detained by the Los Angeles Police Department Monday night at a Hollywood hotel.

According to law enforcement sources, Williams and a unidentified family member were detained after police were called to the Renaissance Hotel on a disturbance call.

[Updated at 8:32 a.m.: The sources described the incident as an altercation with his daughter, but declined to provide further details.]

Williams was eventually released, and the sources said the investigation was continuing. The sources stressed it's unclear if any arrests would result from the probe. Sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing.

Williams was in Los Angeles for several televisions appearances, including "Entertainment Tonight." Earlier Monday, he visited the Lakers.

"It was good. It was the first time," Kobe Bryant told The Times' sports blog. "I had never seen him before, but I had heard a lot about him. It was pretty cool."

Darn Ted! I cried happiness for you! ---HE NEEDS A LIFE COACH. Someone he can have by his side at all times. YES, he is an adult... but for a recovering alcoholic/addict... he NEEDS to be supervised like a child in order to gain any success. If not he will continue on the downward spiral. How could they offer him jobs/money and not know that?! I REALLY want him to do well and prove all of the negative people wrong! There is hope! Only YOU can decide your future. Some need helping hands more than others though! This guy deserves it!

I just knew he would let America down and everybody that was routing for him; also so happy for him. Even my kids was so happy for him. Now they are just dissopointed. Maybe they need to put this guy with someone like T D JAKES to help him with his spirtual state of mind.

The whole world is routing for this guy, even my kids. You don't get blessin like this everyday. Maybe they need to put this guy with somebody like T D JAKES to help him overcome this addiction to drugs; also help him with he's spirtutal beliefs in GOD.

I as many ppl can relate to Ted William's story, I too am an Alcoholic that has been sober for four year's and four month's. Although my bottom is not that of Ted's I can still Identify with what he's going through. I've only used alcohol to get thru life and it was alot harder chasing that 1st drunk if you will, but much easier once I gave myself a chance to sober up, suit up and then eventually show up. This thing with any addiction is not easy at all, and until you have been there in that position then you have no clue what's going on. Ted is on the right path wether he is faking it til he make's it or is genuinely wanting help. He has to do this for himself and no one else, it'll alway's be that way with a person like Ted. If you would read and not be skeptical like I was the Big Book of a.a. then you might grasp a little on this thing. We as we are, are coniving, intellegent, theive's, and can con the greatest con artist, that's how we survive out there. I can tell that Ted is hurt, angry, despiteful, and a whole lot of other thing's needless to say. I have been right where he is at concerning his addiction and how you can manipulate a situation to make YOU the cntr of attention. I've gotten many, many thing's from how I used to live to survive. But thru my Higher Power and lot's of work with other's like me and giving "it" away if you will. All this will come to light with Ted as long he does it for himself and not to gain family, freind's, or whatever back into his life at this point. Been there done that and it ddnt work until I did it the way Suggested in the Book Alcoholic's Anonymous. This whole "Lime Light" thing is too much too soon for Ted, give him a year to work on Ted HONESTLY and really I mean that with every fiber of my being. Ted hang in there Brother and if you ever feel you need a sponsor get "1". this is not a game, it is life or death, for me anyway it is, take care and God Bless You!!!
