Stretch of a popular south Orange County beach closed by sewage spill

January 28, 2011 | 11:19 pm

A stretch of popular Aliso Beach in Laguna Beach was closed Friday because of a sewage spill.

The affected swath of beach included 1,000 feet up-coast and 1,000 feet down-coast from Aliso Creek, according to information posted on the website of the Orange County Health Care Agency.

The area is closed to swimming, surfing and diving, the county said.

There was no immediate word on when the closed sections of the beach might reopen, but it would not be until bacteria levels in the water return to acceptable standards.
