Pomona elementary school on lockdown after shooting at nearby park
A Pomona elementary school was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon following what authorities described as a gang-related shooting near the campus.
One person was wounded in the 2:40 p.m. shooting in the 600 block of East Philadelphia Street, near Philadelphia Elementary School, said Lt. Ronald McDonald of the Pomona Police Department.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, McDonald said.
There have been no arrests, and police are searching for the shooter, he said. Philadelphia Park, where the shooting occurred, is frequented by gang members, McDonald said.

LA Times should investigate or redact comments on this park. I live across from park and have been there about two years. If this place is such a frequent place for gang members then there should be officers there more frequently. In the two years I've been there the only shooting that occured was Pomona police shooting a man with a gun about 20 times.

All the bashing LATimes did to LAUSD teachers - hopefully now some of the mob mentality readers are getting a good idea of what its like in LAUSD - how can you teach students when you are faced with shooting, stabbings, lock downs. Oh no, its the poor quality teachers that are bringing down education not the low class undocumented (ILLEGAL) people here in LA.
