Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu reopens after rainstorms

A nine-mile section of Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu has reopened after a two-week closure as crews removed debris from recent rainstorms, the California Highway Patrol said.

Rock slides forced officials to close the highway at Deer Creek Road in Malibu north to Las Posas Road in Ventura County. It was reopened Saturday shortly after 3:30 p.m., said Officer Steve Reid of the CHP.

"There were pretty substantial hazards for vehicles,” Reid said. “Crews had to clean up debris from several rock slides."
