Manson follower Patricia Krenwinkel denied parole
Patricia Krenwinkel, who joined Charles Manson's clan in a string of grisly killings more than 40 years ago, was denied parole Thursday.
Krenwinkel, 63, was convicted on seven counts of first-degree murder for her role in the Tate-LaBianca murders that terrorized Los Angeles in 1969.
Among the victims was actress Sharon Tate, who was married to director Roman Polanski. Tate was stabbed 16 times and hanged. She was seven months pregnant.
The parole hearing was held at the women's state prison in Corona, where Krenwinkel is serving a life sentence. It was Krenwinkel's 13th appearance before the Board of Parole Hearings.
She will be up for her next parole review in seven years, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

If we're not going to have the death penalty; she should stay in prison. I remember that tragic situation; I'm three years older than she is today.
I also feel such people should be given some type of training for the purpose of earning their keep. Why should they be allowed to rest and watch TV while the rest of us work?
Maybe she can be taught to weave baskets or make shirts and pants for the homeless ( something!). Maybe allowing dangerous criminals to pick vetegtables isn't the greates idea, but surly something can be found for them to do until they die.

Do you mean the women's state prison in Chino? Because there aren't any prisons in Corona that I know of, let alone a women's state prison.

You idiot. Atkins is dead. She died in prison.

Lloyd - Well, the reason Susan Atkins is not in jail is because she died of cancer. She served out her life sentence.

Lloyd, Susan Atkins died in prison. She was never released.

You all can thank Jerry Brown because if it were not for his role in removing the death penalty -- California would be saved from paying for her grand hotel stay with lucious schooling (earned a BA) and over the top medical care in prison...and the continuing of denial appeals...the cost it could have saved here have to be in the millions range....but he had to have ROSE BIRD overturn her conviction and many others like her!!!

Then she can move in with you Onboard skeptic.

Do the crime, do the time. Sorry. See you in 2018 while I breathe the sweet smell of freedom.

I'll tell you what a waste of money is...it's having this monster up for parole every so many years. What joke.

For those of you recommending leniency for Patricia Krenwinkel - I suggest you pick up a copy of Vincent Bugliosis' "Helter Skelter" and read it from cover to cover. It will remind you of just how horrific the Tate-LaBianca murders were. Let her rot in jail.

"Nay, it is us who continue to express vindictive sentiment, wishing her cruelty, pain and suffering in the name of the victims. What would Jesus do? Extend compassion and release her I believe.
Posted by: Matt | January 21, 2011 at 07:09 AM"
Nonsense. But not for the compassion of the State of California, she would have been executed years ago. There is nothing vindictive about simple justice, which demands that she serve out her sentence based on the chain reaction of cruelty, pain, and suffering she inflicted on her victims and their loved ones.
I believe Jesus said "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, but render unto God that which is God's."
God will decide what to do with her soul. As for her body, the government has rightly concluded that it can sit in prison until such time as Jesus sees fit to call her home.

She still looks scary. Funny how old age just etches what is inside you on your face isn't it?
Her face is not peaceful or kind. It's evil. May she continue to suffer more and more until she dies in jail.

No Parole! We remember the fear in our neighborhood. No doubt that in 1969, she was drug crazed. No doubt too, that she is horrified daily as she recalls what she did.
Nevertheless, if not for the late Justice Bird, she would have fried 40 years ago. (I agreed w/ the good Justice) This being said, sorry Lady, you are never, ever, ever coming out..EVER!

Rose Bird . . .Rose Bird . . . Oh yeah! She was that idiot supreme court justice that said rape is not a violent crime! I remember her! She's one of the major reasons our justice system SUCKS!

Not sure why any of the Manson women are still in prison while Patty Hearst walks free. They were all under the spell of a brainwashing leader.
The only difference I see is that Patty Hearst's family had the wealth and connections that led to a presidential pardon. God Ble$$ America.

@Lloyd: Susan Atkins was not let out of prison. She died recently after being denied compassionate release. Lynette Fromme was never convicted of murders, only attempted murder. THAT is why she was released.

What do you think is a worse punishment? Living out the rest of your days with three square meals a day and a roof over your head guaranteed, or being a 63 year old felon with no skills, work or credit history. If I were her I'd rather stay in prison.

@Jorge - It was a Supreme Court decision that overturned the death penalty not a State Supreme Court decision. Jerry Brown had nothing to do with it. Please read a little bit, your ignorance is showing.

What do you think it would cost to place her under 'indefinite house arrest'?

"I don't understand how Susan Atkins and Lynette Squeaky Fromme are both out of jail"
Um, Lloyd, newsflash here: Susan Atkins wasn't released from prison--she DIED in prison. Her requests for compassionate release due to her terminal illness were denied.
I guess you're right, though...she *IS* out now.

Susan Atkins died in prison on Sept. 24, 2009. She had a brain tumor and a leg taken off.

This is not vengeance. This is natural selection.
Kill them all. They transgressed our moral code and pollute our species with their existence.
