LAPD officers involved in fatal shooting in South L.A.

Police officers were involved in a fatal shooting Monday night in South Los Angeles.

The shooting was reported about 8:15 p.m. in the 900 block of East 107th Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police cars and investigators were swarming the area Monday night.  No additional details were available.

In recent years, the area has been one of the deadliest in Los Angeles, according to a database compiled by The Times' Homicide Report. Since January 2007, at least 170 homicides have been reported within two miles of Monday's shooting scene.
