Crime reports are up significantly for the latest week in 20 L.A. neighborhoods, according to an analysis of LAPD data by the Los Angeles Times’ Crime L.A. database.

Twelve neighborhoods reported a significant increase in violent crime. West Hills (A) was the most unusual, recording five reports compared with a weekly average of 0.9 over the last three months.

Valley Glen (M) topped the list of 10 neighborhoods with property crime alerts. It recorded 43 property crimes compared with its weekly average of 25.9 over the last three months.

Two neighborhoods triggered alerts for both violent and property crime.

Alerts are based on an analysis of crime reports for Jan. 18–24, the most recent seven days for which data are available.
