Jack LaLanne 'celebration of life' to be held Tuesday

Share a memory about Jack LaLanne on The Times' interactive Star Walk database. The public will get a chance to say goodbye to Jack LaLanne at a "celebration of life" to be held Tuesday at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills.

Several fitness gurus will pay tribute to TV's original health-and-workout personality beginning at 1 p.m. in the memorial park's Hall of Liberty. Scheduled speakers include former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Richard Simmons and Denise Austin.

Robert Kennedy, a friend of LaLanne, is also scheduled to speak.

Seating in the 1,200-seat hall will be limited, but loudspeakers will be placed outside to accommodate overflow crowds, organizers said.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in LaLanne's memory to these charities: The Jack and Janet LaLanne Scholarship Fund, c/o Hollywood High School, 1521 N. Highland Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90028; or Operation: Children, 8950 W. Olympic Blvd., #377, Beverly Hills, CA 90211-3574.
