Homicide suspect arrested in Hollywood after standoff with police

A man suspected of fatally shooting a woman in a Hollywood apartment building was arrested early Tuesday after barricading himself inside for several hours.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire about 3 a.m. in the apartment complex in the 6500 block of Hollywood Boulevard, officials said.

When they arrived, they found the woman in her mid-20s shot to death in the hallway, said Norma Eisenman, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

During the standoff, a floor of the building was evacuated and Hollywood Boulevard was blocked off between Whitley and Wilcox avenues, said an officer with the LAPD's Hollywood station.

Officers took the suspect into custody about 7:15 a.m., officials said. He has not yet been identified.
