The security guard was shot about 11:45 p.m. Friday at the Kress nightclub, located at 6608 Hollywood Blvd., as he tried to break up a fight on the dance floor, said Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman.

An unidentified man pulled out a handgun and shot the guard in the torso, Eisenman said. The shooter fled the scene, and the guard was in stable condition Monday at a hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the LAPD Hollywood station detectives at (213) 972-2967.
