Father and son fatally shot in San Diego

San Diego police are investigating the fatal shootings Sunday night of a man and his adult son after the two had visited the son's girlfriend in the Golden Hill neighborhood, officials said.

Darryl Hunter, 49, and Keith Butler, 30, were both slain, police Lt. Kevin Rooney said.

The pair had visited with Butler's girlfriend in her apartment for about an hour when Butler walked Hunter to a nearby bus stop about 8 p.m. Shots were heard and Butler went back to the apartment to tell his girlfriend to call 911, Rooney said.

Hunter was found in the street, Butler in the apartment. Both died within minutes of their wounds.

No motive for the shootings is known, Rooney said.
